Susan Alexandra Is Hiring A Retail Store Manager In New York, NY

Reports to: Director level employees based on topic, Founder
Manages: All store employees in all tasks
Status: Full Time Exempt
Salary: $75,000 – $85,000 DOE

Position summary: This is a unique opportunity for an experienced Store Manager to flex their skills in the context of a small and growing brand. Responsible for running the store like a small business from staffing to operations to product ordering to building strong client relationships PLUS leading in-store pop-up events and Bead Nights and making jewelry in-store for our best selling ‘Make Your Own’ program. The ideal candidate has experience in store management and is looking to work in a high-vibe environment that is friendly, fun, and inclusive. Having a background in marketing, crafting, or theater is a plus!

Retail Store Manager Responsibilities

Operations:
● Ensure the store complies with outlined safety policies and procedures and local health regulations in partnership with HR
● Make sure wages, work hours, and equal employment opportunities are upheld according to federal and state laws
● Perform administrative tasks including the timely submission of all personnel paperwork, preparing and submitting reports, and monitoring sales receipts and cash
● Monitor stock and inventory
● Create and maintain employee schedule including request off, team coverage, holidays, events, and pop-ups
● Perform market research on established clienteling programs and develop a program for SA that drives revenue for the store
● Organize and lead regular Bead Night events in the store according to the SOP
● Organize and lead partner pop-ups in the store according to the SOP
● Perform market research on established membership and designer programs and pitch ideas on how to develop a program for SA that drives revenue for the store
● Maintain visual merchandising directives and store cleanliness
● Write the weekly Purchase Order for the store and maintain inventory levels on sales floor and back stock
● Stay in constant communication with production team on launches and any product issues
● Order supplies for the store including toilet paper, paper towel, cleaning supplies, etc.
● Send daily sales EOD reports via email, reply to team when they write the EOD, train team on successful and engaging communication in writing
● Maintain and update all items within the Orchard Street shared drive, including in-store daily task lists for downtime and opening / closing procedures
● Fully own the 33 Orchard Schedule and Sales sheet
● Report data for commissions payouts on a monthly basis in a timely manner
● Ensure that Susan Alexandra is the most optimal and pleasant experience for staff and customers
● Create systems for excellent communication within the store and with SA studio
● Perform all duties according the the Orchard Street Training document
● Self maintain a schedule that meets the needs of the business and balances employee morale
● Actually make jewelry in store by helping clients assemble unique custom creations

HR and Leadership Development:
● Approve store employee hours in Gusto on a weekly basis according to payroll deadlines
● Drive customer service excellence to every aspect of the store, including appearance, display of merchandise, product placement, layout and selling procedures
● Hire, train, develop, and supervise staff
● Provide staff with feedback, coaching, and performance evaluations
● Lead, supervise, assist and train retail team
● Set goals and expectations for entire store team
● Create and execute bi- annual performance reviews
● Create in store daily task lists and implement opening and closing procedures
● Instill a culture of continual improvement and customer service focus
● Ensure SA is in accordance and compliance with all labor and government regulations
● Manage hiring efforts with different roles and teams by reviewing resumes, and participating in hiring interviews and decisions, and managing onboarding processes.|● Ensure the safety of store staff and merchandise
● Learn and train store team on jewelry assembly of ‘Make Your Own’
● Assist in studio overflow work when necessary and possible
● Suggest areas of improvement to Leadership Team

Finance:
● Strategize and report on plans to exceed monthly and/or quarterly/annual store goals set by the Leadership Team and send at a regular cadence
● Manage store supplies and operating budget
● Strategize ways to improve sales conversion
● Strategize ways to improve average order values
● Strategize ways to improve unconverted client email capture
● Balance scheduling budget
● Adhere to baseline operating expenses
