Steph Has Been Turning to This Candle as an Alternative to All the Pumpkin-Scented Ones Lately

It’s part of a collaboration between Malin + Goetz and Kith.

I love a seasonal candle. I’ve been known to burn through a Trader Joe’s Pumpkin Vanilla one in a week flat. But lately, the home fragrance I’ve been gravitating toward now that it’s officially sweater weather is one with a little more nuance and a little less hit-you-over-the-head autumn-ness: the Kith x Malin + Goetz Vapor Candle.

Created, as its name suggests, in collaboration between Malin + Goetz and streetwear brand Kith, the candle is part of a larger capsule line that also includes body wash, body lotion, shampoo and conditioner and a perfume. I’ve been using and liking many items from the range, which all have the same aroma, but the candle is easily my favorite.

According to the brand, the collection aims to “translate Kith’s aesthetic into a scent,” which for some reason led to a fragrance laced with notes of bergamot, currant, pink pepper, black dahlia, saffron and “snowdrop,” whatever the hell that is. But the real magic, if you ask me, comes from what the brand calls the “dry-down” accord of charcoal, woody notes and vanilla bean. It has that same intangible, lived-in type of quality as Glossier You (my go-to daily fragrance) with the added depth, warmth and sweetness I crave in a home scent in the cooler months. It’s innately cozy and home-y, like a nubby robe, but also surprisingly elevated, like… a fancy silk one? To me, it doesn’t exactly scream “hypebeasts will stand in line all day for this shit!” — and, well, thank goodness for that.
