Step Inside Don't Let Disco's New York City Showroom

Tucked inside an unassuming, historic enclave within the vibrant neighborhood of Dumbo, Brooklyn, lies jewelry brand Don’t Let Disco’s first-ever showroom.

“When I walked in, I knew that it was our space,” designer Ashley Moubayed tells Fashionista ahead of the opening party. “For me, it’s a very natural evolution of the brand and it will allow our clients, customers and beaders to gather in a space that feels inspiring.”

In the world of Don’t Let Disco, everything old becomes new again: Every bead, glass, stone and shell is repurposed and reworked into luxury treasures meant to last a lifetime. The space’s interior, decorated by Talia Mayden, reflects this ethos of reimagined storytelling. Almost everything — save for the lighting and refrigerator — is sourced secondhand, from the apothecary cabinets reclaimed from the Bowery Hotel renovation, to the early-1800s cash register inserts repurposed as beading trays.

“It’s quite intentional that it looks like a library,” Moubayed muses. “Just as much as the beads have a story, everything in the space has a story.”

She adds, “Having a space where people can land and they can come in and spend some time and be really curious is just another chapter in our story.”

In the video above, Moubayed discusses the design process, Dumbo’s creative community and channeling Don’t Let Disco’s mission for craft and connection into a physical experience.
