See Every Look from Hedi Slimane's Spring 2020 Collection for Celine Men's

The designer went all in on super-skinny, 1970s-inspired silhouettes — and we can’t say we’re surprised.

On Sunday night in Paris, Hedi Slimane closed down the Spring 2020 season at Men’s Fashion Week with his latest collection for Celine. While the designer pleasantly surprised audiences at his Fall 2019 women’s ready-to-wear show — he softened way up, presenting a range of luxe, timeless staples ideal for everyday wear, as opposed to a wild night out on the town — he is clearly sticking to his rocker chic signature style in the menswear space this time around.

Slimane made his full Celine men’s debut with a runway show back in January, and much like his work in years past at both Dior Homme and Saint Laurent, the collection was chock-full of tailored, skinny suiting, as well as nods to music and youth culture. (The casting also consisted of mostly-white, very thin models — another Slimane trademark.) For Spring 2020, there was more of the same: slim-cut jackets, crisp straight-leg denim, skinny ties, silky neck scarves, pointy toe boots, shirts unbuttoned just-so, aviator sunglasses and shaggy hair. The show featured an abundance of leather, animal print (particularly leopard and snakeskin) and sparkle, with some classic prep thrown in for good measure, in the form of simple nautical stripes and a collegiate cardigan.

While there’s not much to report on the newness front, as usual, there is plenty of commercial appeal in this offering; the outerwear and accessories alone are the sorts of grail pieces that will get serious milage in a man’s closet. That is, if he can fit into them.
