Peter Hawkings is leaving Tom FordEstée Lauder announced on Monday, a little over a year after taking over the brand.

Hawkings worked alongside Ford (the man) since his Gucci days, and joined him when he launched his namesake brand, working on its menswear. He took over the top creative position in April 2023, after the founding designer sold it to the Estée Lauder Companies for $2.8 billion. (The beauty conglomerate inked a long-term licensing deal with Ermenegildo Zegna Group to produce Tom Ford fashion.)

Hawkings made his runway debut as creative director for Spring 2024, in which he continued to channel a “sleek and sophisticated” vision, per Fashionista’s Dhani Mau. His Fall 2024 collection, shown on the runway in Milan in February, will be his last for Tom Ford.

“I would like to express my gratitude to Peter for his exceptional contributions to Tom Ford from the very beginning,” Guillaume Jesel, who was also made president and CEO in April last year, said, in a statement.

The brand’s Spring 2025 offering will be presented in a showroom during the upcoming Milan Fashion Week. A replacement is expected to be announced in the near future — which means we now have four major houses without a designer: Tom Ford, ChanelGivenchy and Dries Van Noten.
