The Fall 2025 shows are in full swing in Paris, where we’re seeing an eclectic continuation of the trends we’d spotted in New York, London and Milan — both on and off the runways. And while the street style crowd is still wearing plenty of bra tops, mini skirts, quirky socks and neckties in the French fashion capital, it’s the bounty of mid-2000s and even 2010s trends that have really captured our attention.
Yes, Paris Fashion Week attendees are partying like it’s 2006: It’s been a big moment for the indie sleaze era’s most beloved look — shorts layered over tights — as well as skinny pants, peplum tops and dresses worn on top of pants, tween Disney star-style. The street style-set is also embracing flared pants; boho staples like ponchos, ruffles, lace, slip skirts and gladiator shoes; and throwback prep accents like polos, rugby shirts, newsboy caps and peacoats. Who else has the sudden urge to crank up some Death Cab on their iPod, log onto MySpace and go on an American Apparel shopping spree?
