With Trump’s inauguration, are all fashion credits good ones?
For Teen Vogue, Aiyana Ishmael examines the significance of fashion in the White House throughout history. The public has long dissected the style choices of past presidents, vice presidents and their partners, often relating those details back to each administration’s policies and positions. However, those past administrations have carried a very different weight than that of Donald Trump’s second term. With numerous day-one executive orders targeting immigration, gender identity, climate change and other highly sensitive topics, Ishmael argues it isn’t always a good look for designers — such as Oscar de la Renta, who dressed Ivanka Trump and Second Lady Usha Vance on inauguration day — to lend their work to politicians, even if they are residents of the White House. {Teen Vogue}

Why Daniel Fletcher joined Chinese label Mithridate
In an interview with Lucy Maguire for Vogue Business, British designer Daniel Fletcher and Mithridate CEO Tina Jiang explain how they’re hoping to redefine the “Made in China” label. Fletcher, who came runner-up in Season 1 of Netflix’s “Next in Fashion,” will make his debut for the brand during London Fashion Week this February. The new appointment will be kicked off with a campaign starring Alexa Chung. “London is such a center of creativity, and British designers are also running some of the biggest houses in Paris, so [this partnership] made sense,” Jiang says.” {Vogue Business/paywalled}
