Michelle Obama’s tailor is launching her own line
Christy Rilling, dressmaker and longtime personal tailor for Michelle Obama, is launching a ready-to-wear line called Guild of Hands. As reported by Ruth La Ferla for The New York Times, most of the pieces in the collection are “variations on the custom designs” Rilling has made for celebrity clients. In 2019, Rilling debuted her first custom collection of day and evening looks. Her new ready-to-wear line is intended to reach a wider clientele, with each garment made with luxury fabrics and designed for timeless use. “The idea is that you can wear them time after time and not look back on your photo 10 years down the line, moaning, ‘Ugh, I looked so trendy,'” Rilling said. {The New York Times}
