Daydream launches iPhone app

AI-powered fashion discovery platform Daydream is launching its new iPhone app. Through its chat-to-shop experience and “Say More” feature, shoppers can refine preferences and receive context-aware recommendations that evolve with every interaction. Daydream allows users to search and shop directly from a screenshot, whether it’s a street-style look, an editorial image or a saved post. FIT and CFDA partner on “Archiving NYFW” database

The Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) and the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) teamed up to launch the second phase of the Fashion Calendar Research Database (FCRD), called Archiving New York Fashion Week: FCRD x CFDA. This new phase expands the database to include the first 10 years of the CFDA Fashion Calendar archive (2015–2025). The project integrates listings from New York Fashion Week, NYFW: Men’s and NYFW: Bridal, between 2015 and 2025, into the existing database which includes listings as far back as 1941. {Fashionista inbox}

2026 LVMH Prize applications open

Applications for the 2026 LVMH Prize for Young Fashion Designers opened on Monday and close Jan. 11, 2026. The competition is open to fashion designers from all over the world aged between 18 and 40 who have created at least two womenswear, menswear or genderless ready-to-wear collections. Applications must be submitted at lvmhprize.com. The winner of the LVMH Prize will be awarded €400,000. {Fashionista inbox}

How Oura is reaching Gen Z women

Oura’s demographic for its health-tracking rings has started to shift from men in the tech industry to younger women. Oura CEO Tom Hale tells Vogue Business that its sleep-tracking feature was the “Trojan horse” for the business as Oura’s sales have accelerated following its expansion into women’s health features and its adoption among younger consumers. Oura’s fastest-growing customer segment is Gen Zs between 18 and 25 years old. Sales among women grew 250% in the last year, while men’s sales grew 75%. {Vogue Business/paywalled}

Meet the bank investing millions in Africa’s fashion industry

Cairo-based Afreximbank runs a $2 billion creative industries fund supporting export-focused initiatives such as overseas trade shows for fashion designers from Kenya, Ghana and beyond. The bank also sponsored British-Ghanaian designer Ozwald Boateng’s takeover of this year’s Met Gala. “As with many things in Africa, opportunities in the African creative industries abound but remain untapped. This is why Afreximbank has adopted a proactive approach to catalyzing the industry,” former President Benedict Oramah said last year as he announced the bank’s doubling of its funding for the Creative African Nexus (Canex) program from $1 billion to $2 billion for the next three years. {Business of Fashion/paywalled}

Shorter holiday shopping window complicates retail’s challenging season

Retailers and consumers are facing a shorter shopping window this season, on top of tariffs and recessions fears. This year, there are 26 days between Thanksgiving and Christmas. That’s one more day than last year, but four days fewer than 2023. Despite this, the National Retail Federation projects U.S. holiday sales will surpass $1 trillion for the first time in 2025, rising as much as 4.2% over last year. {Modern Retail}

ShopMy launched its consumer app on Tuesday, which is available now on the App Store for iPhones. ShopMy’s app allows users to browse curated products recommended by creators, editors and experts (or “Circles”) they love. New features include Mobile Snapshop, which  integrates directly with your browser and all shopping apps you have, allowing you to quickly save products, even if they weren’t shared by a curator, along with Instagram integration to build your Circles from Instagram. {Fashionista inbox}
