Mytheresa’s focus on top clients drives sales
Despite market volatility, luxury e-tailer Mytheresa announced a 10% increase in overall sales in the past fiscal year as it focused on top-spending clients. With the help of exclusive capsule collections and in-person events catered to its biggest spenders, 20% of those sales came from the United States, where other luxury companies are underperforming. The fashion industry is failing sustainable designers
Despite widespread calls for positive change, established and emerging sustainable brands are swimming upstream in the fight for planet- and people-friendly fashion. This year, brands Kit X and Mara Hoffman shuttered due to the increasing challenges of sustainable sourcing and logistics. Beyond production, the economic value of faster, cheaper practices makes sustainability-minded investors hard to find. {Vogue Business/paywalled}

New York Fashion Week can prosper without “big names” from Europe
Each season, buzz around New York Fashion Week seems to hold out until the announcement of its European guest designers, casting aside exciting homegrown talent. “There is a seemingly perennial obsession with seeing American fashion as less than its counterparts in Europe, and that call is coming from inside the house,” writes José Criales-Unzueta. He breaks down the vitality and delight of New York Fashion Week as a platform for classic American brands, experimentalists and rising stars in his column, Connecting the Dots. {Vogue Business/paywalled}
