CFDA announces 2025 Empowered Vision Award finalists
The Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) and the Andréa W. and Kenneth C. Frazier Family Foundation announced the four finalists for this year’s Empowered Vision Award, an initiative dedicated to supporting emerging Black designers with $100,000 and a year-long mentorship program. The 2025 finalists are Daveed Baptiste, Keith Herron of Advisry, Nana Kwame Adusei of Kwame Adusei and Edvin Thompson of Theophilio. Louis Vuitton is coming to NYC for Cruise 2027
Louis Vuitton is set to show its Cruise 2027 collection on May 20 in New York City. The venue and other details are still under wraps. Last year, Artistic Director Nicolas Ghesquière staged the fashion house’s Cruise 2026 show at the Palais des Papes, a UNESCO World Heritage site in Avignon, France. {WWD/paywalled}
Supergoop names new CEO

Supergoop has appointed Melis del Rey as its new CEO and Board Director, effective Dec. 8, 2025. Most recently, del Rey served as general manager of Amazon U.S. Health and Beauty where she led a major transformation of Amazon’s U.S. Beauty business. Del Rey succeeds Gregory Polcer, who has been serving as interim CEO since May 2025. Polcer will continue to serve on the Supergoop Board of Directors. {Fashionista inbox}
Gap Inc. net sales up 3% in Q3
On Thursday, Gap Inc. reported its Q3 fiscal 2025 results for the quarter ended on Nov. 1, 2025, which showed net sales were up 3% compared to last year to $3.9 billion. Old Navy (up 6%), Gap (up 7%) and Banana Republic (up 4%) all posted strong comparable sales for Q3. However, Athleta’s comparable sales were down 11% as it saw Q3 net sales of $257 million. {Gap Inc.}
Inside luxury retailers’ fight to win the holidays
For American department stores, this holiday season is shaping up to be a fight for shoppers’ attention. Saks Global, which also owns Neiman Marcus and Bergdorf Goodman, is still the biggest luxury multi-brand retailer in the market, but it spent the year undergoing multiple rounds of restructuring. Bloomingdale’s, Nordstrom, Shopbop and Mytheresa are in a healthier position and are openly courting top customers, vendors and even the employees of their struggling competitors.
