Can San Francisco become America’s next fashion hub?
San Francisco has become a breeding ground for fashion disruptors. What sets many of the Northern California fashion brands apart is that they are direct-to-consumer, mission-driven, female-run and digitally-focused. And now that these start-ups are coming of age, they are attracting more talent, and a new creative class is starting to emerge. {WWD

Why luxury brands and resellers should work together
Millions of consumers, many of whom are millennials, are embracing the resale market; their preference for online second-hand shopping is why the category is growing at a rate that’s 21 times faster than retail at large. And yet, high-end labels like Chanel have yet to leverage the opportunities that lie in working with — rather than against — the big resale players. In a new piece for Business of Fashion, Cathaleen Chen outlines the ways in which luxury brands can partner with resellers and resale platform providers to form a mutually beneficial relationship. {Business of Fashion

Consumers are more likely to buy products marked as sustainable
NYU Stern’s Center for Sustainable Business just completed extensive research into U.S. consumers’ actual purchasing of consumer packaged goods (CPG),and found that products marked as sustainable grew 5.6 times faster than those that were not from 2013 to 2018. And in more than 90% of the CPG categories, sustainability-marketed products grew faster than their conventional counterparts. This study is proof that there’s a real demand for sustainable products, and that legacy companies will only thrive if they accept this shift and are willing to pivot. {Harvard Business Review
