Ever since its opening, I’ve heard so many great things about the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, especially its exhibition of one of my favorite movies, “The Wizard of Oz.” As a devoted Judy Garland fan, I carved out time to visit on my recent trip to Los Angeles. You can imagine my disappointment when, upon arrival, a museum employee informed me that it had been replaced by an exhibit on “The Godfather”. (Men strike again.)

As sad as I was to miss Dorothy’s famous ruby red slippers and the Wicked Witch of the West’s pointed hat, I was pleasantly surprised to find a section dedicated to the film in the museum’s gift shop. A sweet mini T-shirt dress immediately caught my attention, and I knew I needed to have it.

The dress in question is an exclusive collaboration between Moschino and the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, designed by former creative director Jeremy Scott. Printed on the garment is a still from the iconic “There’s no place like home” scene, where Dorothy clicks her slippers three times; her signature blue gingham appears on the sleeves and across the collar.

I didn’t end up buying it in person, but I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it since. In other words: It seems my purchase is inevitable.
