Ever since announcing her engagement to Prince Harry, the world’s eyes have been fixed on Meghan Markle — and her style. We’ll be following the Meghan Markle Effect with our column, “Meghan Markle Wore a Thing.”

Over the weekend, the Duchess of Sussex joined the Royal Family to honor Remembrance Day and commemorate all those who have lost their lives in conflicts.‬ This year’s festival marked the 75th anniversary of a number of crucial World War II battles and paid respects to the British Commonwealth and Allied armies who fought in them.

The special tribute began on Saturday, as the Duchess attended the Royal British Legion Festival of Remembrance at the Royal Albert Hall in London in an all-black ensemble, which included a bespoke rose brocade dress by ErdemAquazurra pumps in black suede and delicate heart-shaped ruby Jessica McCormack earrings

On Sunday, the somber events continued in London with the annual Remembrance Day memorial service at the Cenotaph. Prince Harry stood with his brother during the service, and was joined by Prince Edward and Princess Anne. Meanwhile, his wife watched the service from a neighboring balcony in a custom Stella McCartney coat, which she accessorized with a Stephen Jones black wool bow-detail hat. She completed the look with Dents black leather cashmere-lined gloves and a red poppy pin — a symbol to remember those who have lost their lives in war and those who have been killed as a result of terrorism.
