Ever since announcing her engagement to Prince Harry, the world’s eyes have been fixed on Meghan Markle — and her style. We’ll be following the Meghan Markle Effect with our column, “Meghan Markle Wore a Thing.”

As compared with her busy summer schedule, Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle has been playing it somewhat low-key throughout much of the past few months. But on Thursday, she made a public appearance alongside husband Prince Harry, aka the Duke of Sussex, to honor fallen service men an women during a pre-Remembrance Day ceremony at Westminster Abbey. It was a somber occasion, with the Duchess and many of the other attendees donning small faux poppy flowers as symbol to commemorate military members who have died in war.

As for the rest of the Duchess’ ensemble, she wore a monochromatic navy blue look, including a plush belted coat (a boucle alpaca one by Canadian brand Sentaler, which is from 2015 and unfortunately no longer available), leather gloves, boots by Tamara Mellon and a Philip Treacy hat from the designer’s Fall 2019 collection.
