I realized most of my clothes weren’t suitable for hot weather.
While doing some early outfit planning for an upcoming vacation, I realized most of my clothes weren’t suitable for hot weather. Sure, I have plenty of T-shirts, denim cut-offs and a pair of biker shorts, but it turns out even the breeziest tee can feel stifling when the temperature rises. So I decided to resolve this wardrobe problem by doing a major summer shopping haul, which includes this Everlane short-sleeve shirt in linen.
It seems that I’ve been living under a rock, because after almost 10 humid summers in New York City, I have somehow managed to not own a piece in this super-breathable, summer-friendly fabric. I already love this shirt’s silhouette, as the dozen other versions in my closet will show, but most are in silk and cotton, which isn’t the most comfortable to wear on a long, hot day. Luckily, that’s going to change very soon, once this new order arrives on my doorstep.
But now that I’ve acquired this shirt in such a warm-weather-ready material, I’ve started to think about other ways I can add linen to my go-to garments. Already I’m browsing for linen shorts, linen long-sleeve shirts and even linen dresses. If you have any of your own linen favorites, be sure to send them my way, too.
