After helming Carven since 2023, Louise Trotter is headed to Bottega Veneta. Kering announced on Thursday that Trotter will succeed Matthieu Blazy as the Italian luxury brand’s creative director at the end of January 2025.
“I am deeply honored to join Bottega Veneta as creative director,” Trotter said in a statement. “The House’s storied legacy of artistry and innovation is truly inspiring, and I am excited to contribute to its future and celebrate its timeless vision.”
Trotter’s last day at Carven is Jan. 24, 2025, the Parisian luxury brand announced in an Instagram post on Thursday. Her successor has not yet been named. Trotter previously held the creative director role at Lacoste for four years, and worked for London-based label Whistles, Calvin Klein, Gap and Tommy Hilfiger.
“I am pleased to welcome Louise as our new Creative Director,” Bottega Veneta CEO Leo Rongone said in a statement. “Her aesthetic seamlessly combines exquisite design with sublime craft and her commitment to cultural advocacy aligns beautifully with our brand vision. Through her sophisticated lens, Bottega Veneta will continue to celebrate its heritage while preserving modern relevance. I also want to express my profound appreciation for Matthieu, who has been an extraordinary partner in infusing our brand with desirability, emotional resonance and intellectual identity.”
Trotter’s Bottega Veneta appointment comes amid yet another creative director shuffle: John Galliano announced his departure from Maison Margiela on Wednesday, Peter Do left Helmut Lang, Phillip Lim exited his namesake label and Kim Jones left Fendi. Trotter also joins a seemingly ever-shrinking list of female creative directors running major fashion labels, including Sarah Burton at Givenchy, Chemena Kamali at Chloé and Maria Grazia Chiuri at Dior, among others.
“Louise brings a wealth of experience and a fresh perspective to Bottega Veneta’s tradition of bold creativity and unparalleled excellence,” Francesca Bellettini, Kering Deputy CEO in charge of brand development, said in a statement. “She is the ideal creative talent to carry forward, alongside Leo Rongone and the Bottega Veneta team, the remarkable journey initiated with Matthieu Blazy, to whom I extend my heartfelt gratitude for his visionary creativity.”
After three years at Bottega Veneta’s helm, Blazy is now heading to Chanel, where he will succeed Virginie Viard after her abrupt June exit.
