Founder: Dr. David Kim, a board-certified cosmetic dermatologist at Idriss Dermatology in New York City.

Origin Story: Dr. David Kim received his medical degree from Stanford University and is an expert in lasers, fillers and toxins. As a native Korean, Dr. Kim travels to Seoul frequently and brings back new techniques and treatments that are trending in Asia.

Throughout his career he has diagnosed and treated hundreds of skin cancers. When he was a medical student at Stanford, he also spent a lot of time educating elementary school kids and Stanford NCAA athletes about the importance of sunscreen. His mission with Lightsaver, which was founded in June of 2023, is to change the narrative on SPF and create mineral sunscreens that have a lightweight, soft texture that people would actually look forward to using every day — and that can protect the skin from harsh UV rays while delivering skin-care benefits simultaneously.

Lightsaver’s Activated Mineral Sunscreen is a 100% mineral facial sunscreen with non-nano zinc oxide and its proprietary Light Activated Repair Complex (LARC): a blend of photolyase, niacinamide, squalane and lingonberry.
