Laura Vassar, Formerly of Brock Collection, Designed a 'Luxury' Capsule for Reformation

Reformation is introducing a limited-edition luxury capsule — dubbed “The Collection” — designed by Laura Vassar, previously of Brock Collection, the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund-winning label that quietly shut down last year.

There are 18 pieces total, from knits to dresses to eveningwear, ranging in price from $320 to $980. You can see the touches of Vassar and Brock Collection in the romantic florals and fitted silhouettes, with details that make each item feel more elevated than its basic counterpart. (A red maxi dress has asymmetric ruching across the front, while a creamy vanilla blouse is ruffled in its entirety.) The capsule is made using both deadstock fabrics and Reformation’s signature textiles, such as linen and Naia silk.

“I wanted these pieces to be like armor, designed to make the wearer feel special, sexy and confident no matter where they’re going,” Vassar wrote, via e-mail.

“We used the exact same sustainability standards we deploy throughout our business to create ‘The Collection’ from our manufacturing standards all the way to packaging,” Reformation CEO Hali Borenstein wrote, over email. “From a fabrication standpoint, most notably, we sourced high-end deadstock from luxury factories in addition to linen, which requires very little water to grow and emits minimal carbon, and a luxe new silk that is Bluesign-certified.”

Reformation has been in expansion mode lately. It recently launched its first handbag collection, and this collaboration hints at its ambitions of courting big spenders and upping the sophistication of its designs.
