Khaite’s is one of a handful of New York Fashion Week shows where many attendees wear the brand, not necessarily because they were paid to or offered loans, but because they purchased its clothes and accessories themselves. In particular, the label’s luxurious leather outerwear, streamlined boots and structured handbags are among the most coveted by industry folk, and those women were no doubt making mental shopping lists as designer Catherine Holstein’s Fall 2025 collection was revealed on Saturday night.
Indicating this commercial success, the brand put on a rather grand display, erecting a massive, circular, gold-toned runway inside the Park Avenue Armory. Coordinating lights encircled the ceiling in the otherwise dark, black space, and flashed dramatically before the first model appeared. (A warning sign for epileptics was placed in front of the entrance.)
As usual, the collection includes a slew of items destined to be commercial hits, especially the leather goods: sumptuous outerwear in black and brown, chic (and practical) heeled over-the-knee boots and a new range of future “It” bags in an elegant doctor-bag shape. Meanwhile, a number of pieces suggest Holstein is pushing herself more creatively in ready-to-wear: voluminous tops and dresses with asymmetrical, shaggy, unfinished trimming; slouchy, corset-like garments layered over tops; and wide-knit skirts and dresses in bold silhouettes. It will be interesting to see whether her loyal customers will gravitate towards these more directional pieces as well.
