Keri Russell appeared chic as ever on the red carpet for her upcoming TV series “The Diplomat,” which drops on Netflix April 20 — and proved that belly button windows can be very elegant.
The actor towered in a Saint Laurent gown with a twist front and stomach cutout, styled by Frank Fleming. While we’ve seen the belly button peaking through layers of clothes (especially on the Spring 2023 runways), this Anthony Vacccarello piece centers it in a more intentional way: The mirrored twists unavoidably create focus around the exposed area, and also create a butterfly effect, with the draped top half looking like it’s ready to flutter.
Russell’s dress was a deep eggplant shade, but you can shop the same style in black online right now (should you have $6,190 laying around). She added some drop earrings for evening glamour and dark, vampy eye makeup.
Overall, the look is chic and easygoing, flowy and elegant — and, most importantly, it makes a compelling case for belly button windows.
