Within the Bortolami Gallery, a lone piano laid in wait between white pillars and sheer black curtains descending from the ceiling. As the spotlights rose and the audience hushed, pianist Marta Sanchez began an enchanting serenade, ushering in Kallmeyer’s “Sublime” Fall 2025 collection that lived up to its name through sophisticated suiting and an undercurrent of “sexiness”.
“We started this collection in a very cinematic way — our references were extremely glamorous, of another time and really romantic,” Daniella Kallmeyer told Fashionista backstage at her eponymous brand’s Fall 2025 show on Tuesday. “I wanted to bring those references into the real world because it’s just a time for that. We can have fantasy because we deserve art in this time, but we’re also in a real moment. So what started, I think, as a poem, has turned into an anthem.”
Detail-oriented artistry serves as the common thread throughout Kallmeyer’s designs, and the designer’s latest collection marks a return to the ready-to-wear brand’s “DNA of suiting.” But, in keeping with the label’s modern sensibility, there’s no one way to wear Kallmeyer’s signature suits. Their built-in versatility evokes the ultimate capsule wardrobe: Pair a cropped blazer with baggy wide-leg denim, drape an oversized scarf atop a suit coat or ditch the jacket altogether for a burgundy cowl-neck tank coupled with tailored trousers. “You don’t have to suit it all up,” the designer noted. “You don’t have to figure out what it goes with, you really can wear it in any way.”
Beyond showcasing the brand’s affinity for impeccable suiting, Fall 2025 also incorporates a smattering of flowing drop-waist gowns, oversized turtleneck sweaters and sleek, leather-forward ensembles. Kallmeyer’s contemporary touch (see: a belted sash attached to the back pocket of a pair of trousers) works in tandem with the brand’s statement accessories of tassel belts, beaded necklaces, leather gloves and slouchy totes.
“I took moments in every single piece for there to be some sort of artistry, whether it was the way that we draped the garment [or] whether it was the way that we layered it,” Kallmeyer said of the Fall 2025 collection. “The technology is actually in the artistry and the craft of the product, that then makes it incredibly easy for you to just throw it on and feel cool or feel glamorous or feel unique, or just feel like yourself.”
The designer also tapped Fiametta, a New York-based fine jewelry brand, for the runway’s diamonds, as well as luxury Portuguese footwear brand Calçado Penha for its featured shoes and sandals.
With its sophisticated, cool New Yorker ethos, what exactly is Kallmeyer’s message to its audience this season? “Women should rule the world and it will be much more beautiful and sublime and serene if we did,” Kallmeyer said. (Cue Beyoncé’s “Run The World (Girls).”) The designer also emphasized that the wearer’s closet can be complex and live in different contexts because they themselves are complex. “If your personality is evolving with your wardrobe, you’re collecting pieces that you never really want to get rid of.”
As the brand looks ahead to its next chapter, a new retail location is on the horizon. This spring, Kallmeyer will open its second NYC store at 1022 Madison Ave., which will serve as a new point of discovery for its audience.
