Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez Are Headed to Loewe

Following Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez’s exit from Proenza Schouler earlier this year, the design duo have officially landed at Loewe, the Spanish luxury brand announced on Monday.

“We are incredibly honored to join Loewe, a House whose values and mission align closely with our own. We look forward to working alongside its extraordinary teams and artisans, whose talent — under the exceptional creative direction of Jonathan Anderson — has shaped Loewe into the cultural force it is today,” McCollough and Hernandez said in a statement.

McCollough and Hernandez succeed Anderson, who has served as Loewe’s creative director since 2013 and also currently holds the top position at his eponymous label JW Anderson. Rumors of McCollough and Hernandez’s impending switch have swirled for a while now, further fueled by Proenza Schouler’s noticeable absence from February’s New York Fashion Week calendar and whispers that the duo’s LVMH contract had already been signed.

With more than 20 years at Proenza Schouler’s helm, the duo firmly established the brand as a womenswear favorite and even weathered multiple acquisitions until they bought the company back in 2018. McCollough and Hernandez’s successor at the New York-based label has not yet been announced, but the duo is working alongside CEO Shira Suveyke Snyder to find their replacement.

McCollough and Hernandez are joining Loewe at a particularly buzzy time for the LVMH-owned label as the brand recently designed costumes for Luca Guadagnino’s “Queer” and boasts a stylish list of celebrity fans including Ayo Edebiri, Greta Lee, Taylor Russell, Jamie Dornan and Daniel Craig.

No official announcement has been made regarding Anderson’s next steps post-Loewe, though fashion insiders speculate that he is a top contender to take the helm at Dior.
