This may be the only “ugly” footwear fad I participate in.
Remember that time Lizzie McGuire screamed “I want a bra” for all the world — ok, mainly her mother — to hear? Well, this is how I feel about clogs. I’m both slightly embarrassed that I want them and at the same time proud to announce my appreciation for the wooden heels to anyone willing to listen or buy them for me. And while they’ve been grouped with the “ugly” footwear clan, which consists of a chunky bunch of shoes, let it be known that the platform slip-ons are trending and have been featured in recent collections from designers like Dior, Jacquemus and Isabel Marant.
I have my eyes on a neutral suede pair by No.6, a brand with a Scandi-cool aesthetic that specializes in the Swedish-style slides. They’re a simple, no-frills pair, with a clean rubber sole, a natural wooden heel and a classic rounded toe. The best part? They’re begging to be worn with ribbed knit tights and colorful wool socks — sartorial pairings that I am unusually excited about this season.
No.6 Old School Mid Heel Clog, $290, available here.
