There are perfectly good celebrity style moments, and then there are the looks that really stick with you, the ones you try desperately to recreate at home. In ‘Great Outfits in Fashion History,’ Fashionista editors are revisiting their all-time favorite lewks.

Michelle Yeoh may be having a resurgence in popularity right now, with her film “Everything Everywhere All at Once” sweeping up award after award this season, but make no mistake, Yeoh is no stranger to Hollywood; the 60-year-old actor has been a star since the 1980s, with standout roles in films like “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon,” “Tomorrow Never Dies” and “Crazy Rich Asians,” and she shows no signs of slowing down.

With such a prolific career, Yeoh has also had the opportunity to develop her sartorial voice, frequently wowing on the red carpet. As we look back at some of her fashion highlights, it’s hard to overlook one in particular: the gown she wore to the “Marie Antoinette” premiere at the Palais des Festivals during the 59th International Cannes Film Festival in 2006.

For the occasion, Yeoh donned a vibrant plum-and-gold strapless dress made of richly decorated woven silk. The gold and silver threading forms beautiful floral chinoiserie embroidery — the motifs paying tribute to Yeoh’s Malaysian Chinese heritage. Her gold chain clutch matched the same shades of her dress, while her strappy Giuseppe Zanotti heels brought out the silver and white tones. A cascading train trailed behind Yeoh as she traversed the red carpet.

To match the playfulness of her dress, Yeoh wore her hair in wavy, low pony, punctuated by a pair of geometric chandelier earrings. Overall, she looked like the Kung fu superstar version of Evelyn Wang in “Everything Everywhere All at Once”.
