Though Madonna’s “Queen of Pop” title owes mainly to her legendary contributions to pop music and all the artists that have sonically and artistically followed in her footsteps, it also has to do with her overarching influence on the entire pop culture landscape. Shortly after releasing her sixth studio album “Bedtime Stories” in 1994, Madge re-entered her movie star era, starring in her 15th film: the 1996 stage-to-screen adaptation of “Evita.”

With the film’s release came an international press tour filled with some of the star’s most notable fashion moments of her career. She continuously donned fresh-off-the-runway looks from John Galliano’s Givenchy. For the Spanish premiere of the movie, Madonna wore a full look from the Fall 1996 Haute Couture show, including a leopard print double-breasted coat, black chiffon floral-printed dress and baby-pink, petal-adorned fascinator.
The ensemble reflects that of Madonna’s character Eva Perón, an Argentine political leader and actress who, throughout the film, wears many glamorous, buttoned-up looks. The singer also opted to wear a chunky jewel-covered choker necklace and a red lip — two other signatures of her character’s.

The outfit was one of several haute couture looks she wore from the collection, helping to solidify Madonna and Galliano’s collaborative fashion relationship for many years to come.
