There are perfectly good celebrity style moments, and then there are the looks that really stick with you, the ones you try desperately to recreate at home. In ‘Great Outfits in Fashion History,’ Fashionista editors are revisiting their all-time favorite lewks.

We all have merchandise that we’ve collected over the years from our favorite touring artists. There’s an understanding amongst music lovers that wearing merch is one of the ultimate testaments of your love for a songster. Even the most famous artists of all time partake in wearing fan merchandise — the most prominent example being none other than the Queen of Pop, Madonna, donning a tank top in 2000 with a graphic of the Princess of Pop’s name bedazzled across the top. And for anyone confused: Thee Princess of Pop is, undoubtedly, Miss Britney Spears.

For her first performance since 1993, Madonna took to the Roseland Ballroom stage in New York City and wore the tank with a pair of jewel-encrusted jeans and a serious rhinestone cowboy-esque belt.

The mini-concert was a promotional event for her album “Music.” Sitting atop hay bales centered against a background of sparkling stars, the icon performed the titular song off the record, along with tracks like “What It Feels Like For A Girl,” “Runaway Lover” and more.

Madonna isn’t the first (and certainly won’t be the last) artist to support other music-makers sartorially. Some other notable examples include Harry Styles wearing a Selena Gomez shirt (my brain exploded when this happened), and Taylor Swift wearing a The 1975 shirt (a photo that inspired countless mood boards in 2014).

The question of which pop artist makes the best merchandise is a very hot debate, but we curated a few options that feel like some of the best. Scroll below to take a look.
