There are perfectly good celebrity style moments, and then there are the looks that really stick with you, the ones you try desperately to recreate at home. In ‘Great Outfits in Fashion History,’ Fashionista editors are revisiting their all-time favorite lewks.
Like many former Disney Channel connoisseurs, I was first introduced to the incomparable Jamie Lee Curtis in “Freaky Friday,” where she swapped bodies with her on-screen daughter Lindsay Lohan and effortlessly rocked Y2K’s punk-forward fashion. Though Curtis’ 2003 shopping montage ranks among my all-time favorites, the decorated actor had already established herself as a cinematic style icon thanks to her final-girl edge in the “Halloween” franchise and her sultry LBD and slicked-back pixie-cut moment in “True Lies.”
Flashing back to 1995, Curtis attended the 52nd Golden Globe Awards (where she won for her “True Lies” role) in a sleek white floor-length gown by Pamela Dennis. With a V-shaped neckline, thin spaghetti straps and bias cut, the dress spotlighted diagonal pleating from top to bottom.
Gold accessories made it even more of an award-worthy ensemble, including mini hoop earrings, a wristwatch and a metallic clutch. For a touch of Old Hollywood glamour, Curtis topped off her look with a matching white shawl (a ’90s celebrity favorite). For her red carpet glam look, she opted for a side-swept bob with curls, a subtle smokey eye, slightly flushed cheeks and a statement reddish-mauve lip.
Before this year’s “Freakier Friday” captures our attention with entirely new body-swapping ‘fits and stylish press appearances, keep scrolling to shop our picks for recreating Curtis’ 1995 look.
