Award season officially kicked off on Sunday night with the 81st annual Golden Globe Awards. Held once again at The Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles, and led by this year’s host—comedian, and actor Jo Koy—the awards were, per usual, a star-studded affair filled with fashion, television, and a few too many Barbieheimer jokes.
Both films received the most nominations this year, with Barbie claiming nine and Oppenheimer eight. It was the latter, however, that was the big winner, taking home the award for Best Motion Picture, Drama, while Cillian Murphy, Robert Downey Jr., and director Christopher Nolan were awarded their respective Globes as well. As for television, both Succession and The Bear won out, making the event a big night for dysfunctional families in business together.
Of course, all of that means the stars were out, supporting their projects and for some, kicking their campaigning for the all-important Oscar race into high gear. In addition to the Barbieheimer casts, Emma Stone and Natalie Portman, who both received Best Performance nods, hit the red carpet, as well as Timothée Chalamet, Bradley Cooper, and many more. Even Taylor Swift made an appearance in custom Gucci, as her Eras Tour film competed (and lost) against Barbie in the newly minted award for “Cinematic and Box Office Achievement.” But that’s hardly the only look you’re going to want to dissect from the night.
