As a growing number of retailers — Walmart, Target, Amazon — scale back their diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives as President Donald Trump wages an ongoing attack on DEI, Gap stands firm in its commitment to championing inclusivity.

On Wednesday, the retailer launched a limited-edition collaboration with Harlem’s Fashion Row, an organization that supports underrepresented Black and Latinx designers. The 16-piece lineup features the work of Black designers A. Potts’ Aaron Potts, BruceGlen’s Bruce and Glen Porter, Kaphill’s Krystal Phillips, N’Gai’s Nicole King and RichFresh’s Patrick Henry. Each piece is priced between $89-$129.

“We’ve been working with Gap Inc. since 2019, […] and for us, we’re just excited to take our partnership to the next level through this collaboration,” Harlem’s Fashion Row Founder Brandice Daniel tells Fashionista. “There are so many incredible brands — such as Gap — that believe in celebrating all people, and we’re excited to be able to show this in a very unique way. […] I think what this collaboration is going to bring is joy. We felt joy from the moment we sat down and ideated on this in 2024 throughout the entire process.”

According to Daniel, the design process was a “complete collaboration” between Gap and the designers. Each talent had full autonomy over the creative vision, with the help of the Gap design team throughout. “You will absolutely see a reinterpretation of what you would see at a Gap, but with the designers’ DNA in each piece,” she says.

The latest partnership follows in the footsteps of Gap’s string of buzzy collaborations, including those with Dôen, LoveShackFancy, Madhappy and Cult Gaia. Harlem’s Fashion Row has previously joined forces with HSN, Nordstrom, Janie & Jack and Banana Republic.

“I want [shoppers] to feel joy,” Daniel said. “[Throughout] this process, we had meetings where I and some of the designers were literally in tears. […] We made the Gap office our office during this process. […] I feel like the consumers feel love if there was love there [in the creation process] and there was so much love here. When [the collection] is on the floor at the stores, I think people will feel that.”

Gap x Harlem’s Fashion Row is available to shop online and in select Gap stores starting Friday, Feb. 14 at 12:00 p.m. ET.
