Over the last year, the Fashionista team has become big fans of La Bonne Brosse – a luxury hairbrush brand that offers several different products individually catered to detangling, scalp massaging, smoothing and styling. Since 2024, I’ve depended on the No. 04 (detangler) to get my curly, typically very tangled hair in shape for my everyday routine. The No. 03 (soft brush) has kept my blowouts intact and rejuvenated their shine and shape over multiple days. Though these brushes have made my hair regimen all the more luxurious-feeling, I always felt something was missing.

As a dog mom, there’s almost nothing that I don’t share with my pup, Fred. If I have a snack, he gets a snack. If I get a cute sweater, I need him to have a cute sweater, too. So, when La Bonne Brosse launched its new line of dog-specific brushes, of course it made perfect sense that Fred acquired one for himself immediately.

In a world of inadequate pet apparel size ranges for larger dogs like mine, I was especially pleased to see the brand include separate brushes for short, medium and long-haired dogs. After all, different coats require different types of important attention! As a very hairy Australian Shepherd, Fred uses the brush designated for breeds with long-length hair.

With typical pet store brushes, Fred has been pretty hesitant to let me get really into his knot-prone fur. I’m not sure if it’s the soft nylon and boar bristles, the adorable Dalmatian print on the handle or the fact that it looks like a product for human use, but Fred has been more willing than ever to engage in a grooming session.

Plus, the brand also released a matching spot-patterned brush for pet owners to use on themselves. Sure, it’s a bit extravagant to have matching pet-and-owner brushes that are each in the $100 range. But can you really put a price tag on the delight that comes with knowing Fred and I truly match in every way? I think not.
