Fashionista Editors Reveal Their Fashion Week Essentials

It’s that time of year again.

Even though New York Fashion Week finally slimmed down — it will last five days instead of seven — our small team of editors still have a lot of sartorial ground to cover. From intimate presentations and previews to over-the-top runway shows and parties, we’ll be working around the clock — and running all over NYC — to bring you the best Spring 2020 trends, collection highlights, backstage beauty tips and industry rumors from the front lines.

To prep for the madness that is #NYFW, we’ll be spending the next few days stocking our bathroom shelves with life-saving beauty products and filling our totes with small — yet essential — items that will keep us energized, glowing, hydrated and sane. From CBD oils to sensible Tevas, read on to browse (and shop!) our fashion week necessities.

Tyler McCall, Editor-in-Chief

Tory Burch Lee Radziwell Bag, $798, available here: Sure, most of the industry has moved on from paper invites to digital, but that doesn’t mean that I can get away with the extremely mini bags currently dominating trend lists. That’s why I prefer a ladylike satchel.

Acne Studios Manhattan Leather, Suede and Mesh Sneakers, $470, available here: I’ll likely rotate through a number of sneakers during the week but this pair from Acne always makes me feel slightly more fancy than my favorite Nikes or Vans.

Teva W Voya Infinity Flip-Flop, $30, available here: Dhani recently wrote about how Mary-Kate Olsen inspired her to purchase these. Well, Dhani inspired me to do the same. (I never claimed to have an original sense of style!!!) I usually rely on sneakers throughout the week since covering backstage beauty means lots of time spent standing around, but these extra comfy sandals will also no doubt be in heavy rotation.

Singer Sewing Survival Kit, $10, available here: I have dreams of adding some DIY hand-stitched touches to a dress I thrifted this summer. Let’s see if I can get my act together before NYFW kicks into full gear.

Ganni Metallic Socks, $20, available here: NYFW is about 20% fashion and 80% walking. I somehow forget this detail every September and start off the week in a brand new pair of sandals. By the end of day one, I’m limping across town with battered feet. I plan on wearing socks this year to prevent pesky blisters .
