I’ve been on a vintage kick lately. I want knits that look like they were plucked from the closet of a cool Parisian teen in the ’70s and lingerie-inspired camisoles from the ’90s. And while my new appetite for pre-loved garments has caused me to spend far too much time combing through online thrift stores, I still check up on a select group of retailers and brands to see what never-been-worn clothes are on the market. Rouje, the label started by Jeanne Damas, is high on my list for a number of reasons, but the main one being that everything she designs has this vintage-y, Jane Birkin-inspired, effortless-French-girl feel.
I went to the site with a mission to find a cropped, loosely-fitted cardigan that I could wear as it gets colder. Damas did deliver — like I knew she would — with the Tina cardigan. Described as “ultra warm, ultra soft and ultra comfortable,” this chunky sweater will be my ultimate winter companion. I love its oversized cut and subtle art deco print, as well as its ability to go with both dark and light wash jeans. I plan on wearing it with a red lip and a silky tank.
Rouje Tina Cardigan, $230, available here.
