There’s even a matching version for humans.
My personality can be summed up as “person who has a dog.” It’s all I talk about, think about, post about on Instagram. I will find a way to bring her up in casual conversation. I’ll be the first to acknowledge that it can be a bit much. But Bean, my 10-year-old, Chihuahua-terrier rescue, is very cute and sweet and wonderful. So I have no intention of stopping.
Something I didn’t expect about adopting a tiny, adorable dog is how many things I’d want to buy her that she really, truly does not need. A Moschino x H&M hoodie. A Vineyard Vines x Target bow tie. A ‘Golden Girls’ bandana from Etsy. I’ve pretty much stopped shopping for myself, instead thinking of all the non-essentials I could get for her. It hasn’t helped me to learn that this behavior isn’t totally uncommon — “dogwear” has actually become a growing market for fashion brands, to the point where some retailers offer it as its own category.
The latest to introduce “dogwear” is SSENSE, which launched exclusive pieces for both canines and their human pals from labels like Marine Serre, Burberry, Laura Lombardi, Ashley Williams, Moncler Genius and more on Friday.

This being luxury, SSENSE’s assortment of dog apparel and accessories is not cheap — but, with the good, old sorting-low-to-high-prices strategy, I found one under-$100 item I wouldn’t be above buying: a printed T-shirt for dogs by Ashley Williams that says “Best Friends,” featuring two paw prints drawn in with a sunset beach landscape.
In a press release, Williams said the capsule was inspired by her own rescue dogs: “Being able to do a capsule with them in mind for SSENSE has been from the heart. The best friend graphic reflects the Ashley Williams brand DNA and my feelings towards dogs in general.” She and SSENSE also created a version of the T-shirt for humans, which retails for $120 — so, theoretically, I could have a matchy-matchy moment with my dog. (I likely won’t go there, but what a fun concept.)
