Wide-brim hats are great, especially in the summer, to shield your face from UV rays. But they can be burdensome to carry around, and very annoying to pack in a suitcase or carry-on. That’s why I’m always on the lookout for ones you can fold without damaging (easier said than done).

So maybe I was targeted by a video posted by Janessa Leoné of its Odette style getting neatly rolled up and tucked into a shoulder bag on Instagram. It’s made to be packed up, rolled up and stored away, then return to its original shape when ready for use.

Since it’s made with straw, the luxurious hat offers plenty of air flow; and because of the leather lace-up closure, it’s also entirely adjustable. (If you’re like me and have thick hair, this makes all the difference in terms of saving you from throbbing headaches from a poor fit.) It’s also simply very stylish — which you don’t always find in the sun protective category. The best part, though, might be that it’s on sale (35% off!) at Luisaviaroma right now.

Thanks to TikTok videos touting sunscreen and my work in fashion and beauty, I now constantly think of ways to keep my skin safe from the sun. It’s not a bad thing — after all, those UV rays can really do damage. Whether you’re packing it in your suitcase for a big trip or stuffing it in your shoulder bag for a hot-girl walk through the city, this chic accessory pulls double duty, offering protection and bringing together your summer outfits.
