A Lesson in French Elegance From Laurent-Perrier

No lifestyle is more sought-after than that of a French girl. An effortlessly chic wardrobe, the most minimal beauty routine, the laidback sense of joie de vivre — they’re all markers of elegance. No wonder we’re all constantly aspiring to achieve this level of chicness.

Today, we know some of the French girl’s secrets: She wears timeless basics. She prefers natural makeup. She’s fiercely loyal to her signature perfume. And she drinks Laurent-Perrier Cuvée Rosé — the most iconic rosé champagne we’ve ever tried.

Rooted in tradition and focused on delivering the highest quality, Laurent-Perrier has embodied effortless French elegance for more than two centuries. Based in the Grand Cru Pinot Noir village of Tours-sur-Marne, France since 1812, the company that would become Laurent-Perrier has been crafting traditional and elegant champagnes, bringing that enviable way of life to all corners of the globe.

When Cellar Master Eugène Laurent inherited the Alphonse Pierlot Champagne House in 1881, he focused on creating the essential foundations required — the houses and land — to produce great champagnes. As a result, he purchased vines in the very best terroirs of the nearby area, excavated 800 meters of cellars, and set up a tasting laboratory. Only six years later, after he died in an accident in the cellars, his widow, Mathilde Laurent-Perrier, took over — and ushered in a new era of Laurent-Perrier.

Laurent-Perrier is the drink of fiercely independent women. And it makes sense: the House’s success and longevity is inextricably linked to the history and efforts of the many women who have been part of its legacy since its conception. Mathilde’s first order of business was combining her and her late husband’s family names, Laurent and Perrier, to create the official company: Veuve Laurent-Perrier & Co. After her death in 1925, Mathilde left the house to her daughter, Eugenie, who ran Laurent-Perrier until 1939, when the company was sold to another champagne widow, Marie Louise Lanson de Nonancourt. Today, Champagne Laurent-Perrier is still owned and operated by the women of the de Nonancourt family, making it the largest female-run and family-controlled Champagne house.

True to quintessential French-girl style, Laurent-Perrier has always been at the forefront of predicting the next big trends. In the 1960s, they became the first winery in Champagne to exclusively use stainless steel tanks. That same decade, they were one of the first to re-introduce NV rosé to the market, which has since become one of the most iconic champagne rosés you can buy.

The pink champagne, made from pinot noir, exemplifies the boldness and unique savoir faire of Laurent-Perrier. It’s perfected at every stage of its making and is known for its consistency, high quality and intensity, and freshness. Ideal for gifting, celebrating, and enhancing any occasion, Laurent-Perrier Cuvée Rosé is simultaneously the latest and the most storied accessory for channeling your inner French it-girl.
