8 Trends to Know From Milan Fashion Week Fall 2025

There are certain trends you always expect to see in Milan: sophisticated tailoring and suiting, beautifully made shoes and bags, and opulent materials like leather and fur. These were all very much present at the Fall 2025 shows (especially fur), but there was also some newness (or old-newness, in the form of throwback trends) worth highlighting.

Overall, there was an undeniable darkness to Milan Fashion Week‘s marquee shows, as is fairly standard for the Italian city’s runways: Fendi, Prada, Alberta Ferretti, Max Mara, Ferragamo, N.21 and Sportmax had an abundance of all-black looks in their collections with maybe some gray, brown and burgundy mixed in. But within the somber color palette were interesting twists on cold-weather staples, 2000s trends having a resurgence and even a few surprising pops of pastels.

Keep scrolling for the top Fall 2025 trends from Milan Fashion Week.

Precious Puffers

It’s always interesting to see high-fashion designers try to elevate or put their twist on a practical staple; this season many focused on the puffer: There are voluminous satin versions at N.21 and Institution Gassanoff; floral printed ones at Moschino, candy colored iterations at Sunnei and even puffer dresses at Ferrari and Hui.

Statement Gloves

The opera gloves trend is still going strong in Milan. In many cases, gloves were the focal point of the look, and done in bold patterns and fabrications: lace at Aniye Records and Antonio Marras, snakeskin at Roberto Cavalli, slouchy leather at Elisabetta Franchi and MM6 and pops of color at Anteprima, Plan C and Gucci.

Billowing Boho Dresses

The boho-chic resurgence (officially ushered in by Chemena Kamali at Chloé) is going strong in Milan. And while flowy, ruffly boho dresses may seem more fitting for spring, they’re being offered up for fall by Blumarine, Etro, Albertta Ferretti, Roberto Cavalli and more. Add some sleeves, tights and knee-high boots and you’re good to go.

Skinny Scarves

A related 2000s-era trend — the skinny scarf — is also making its comeback. (We saw them in London as well). In Milan, labels like Marni, Ermanno Scervino, Twinset and Alessandro Enriquez offered elevated, evening-appropriate versions in silk, while Prada presented an intriguing leather version.

Tight Leggings + Skinny-Fit Pants

Speaking of skinny, I’ve honestly been trying to ignore recent rumblings of a skinny-jeans comeback, but Milan Fashion Week Fall 2025 has provided plenty of evidence that tight, skinny pant silhouettes are beginning to replace baggier ones. Sportmax, Dsquared2 and Blumarine offered something in between a proper skinny jean and a bootcut. Meanwhile, Diesel, Ferragamo and Gucci went to the other extreme, showing straight-up leggings as pants.

Bows for Grown-Ups

Bows aren’t leaving the trend cycle just yet, but for Fall 2025, Milan designers showed more grown-up, elevated iterations of the typically-girlish motif. Bows are a quiet focal point of several dresses and skirts at Prada — which always turns out to be one of the most influential shows of the season. Jil Sander applied satin ones to black and cream gowns, while N.21 and Vivetta went with black velvet.

A Hint of Midriff

Few designers are shy about showing skin on their runways these days, but I noticed a very specific, intentional approach to midriff-baring across Milan’s fall runways. By pairing low-to-mid-rise pants with tops that either just barely qualify as cropped, or were left unfastened at the bottom, labels ranging from Bally to Gucci to MSGM to Prada showed very deliberate flashes of midriff.

Pastel Pops

Several designers counteracted the fall season’s overarching gloominess with clever touches of muted pastel hues, like yellow at Fendi and Gucci; lilac at N.21 and MSGM; pink at Prada and Twinset and baby-blue at Sunnei, Bally and more.
