Fashion month has done some major damage to our wallets.

There is no time of year that puts our financial well-being at greater risk than fashion month. Seeing the constant influx of new clothes coming down the runways while also seeing fashion people put together their best outfits for street style photographers (and the ‘gram) — all coinciding with a change in seasons — gives us a very serious case of “the shoppies.”

There’s something about street style that tends to to be particularly inspiring — almost subliminally. We find ourselves wondering why we keep adding slime-green pieces, bucket hats, Chloé bags, vests and bold outerwear to our shopping carts, but we only need to peek back at our recent street-style roundups to find the root of these obsessions.

Time and time again, our hunt for street style-inspired pieces leads us to Barneys. From statement earrings to colorful jackets to bold eyeshadow, read on for each of our Barneys.com picks inspired by street style, aka the reasons for our future credit-card debt.

Agnes Luca Drop Earrings, $350, available here: Nothing can make a simple outfit pop like a statement accessory, and this season, street-style stars turned to either hair accessories (particularly barrettes) or earrings. This pair of geometric golden drops would make even a white t-shirt look fashion week-ready.

Acne Studios Jana Plaid Blazer, $850, available here: Oversized, menswear-inspired suiting was everywhere this fashion month, both outside the shows and on the runway. I’d pair a blazer like this with jeans and a tee for the summer, and then with a matching pair of pants come fall.

Five Seventy Five Leather Ankle Boots, $350, available here: I noticed a lot of cowboy boots among the street-style crowd this past season. I’m a bit hesitant to jump into this trend 100 percent, but I’ll happily sport a more simple version in the form of a classic black ankle boot.

RE/DONE Decon Levi’s Denim Overall Dress, $595, available here: Overalls make layering a no-brainer, and layering makes any outfit more interesting. I like that the zippers on this dress can transform it into a two-piece set, too.

Azeeza Salem Silk Halter Dress, $1,295, available here: I love the all-over red trend — it’s about time people stopped shying away from such a fantastically bold color. This dress from Azeeza embodies that trend and is absolutely eye-catching. Plus, it’s silk, which gives it such a dreamy vibe.

Fontana Milano 1915 Tum Tum Toy Tote Bag, $1,400, available here: Fashion people have showed their sartorial support for slime green on numerous occasions. But this suede mini is the closest I’ll go to the Shrek-like shade.

Anna Lu Star And Pearl Drop Earrings, $270, available here: After years of thinking pearls weren’t really my vibe, I’ve begun gravitating toward the slightly off-kilter, less precious pearl pieces jewelry designers have been creating lately. These handmade earrings are not the least bit prim or granny-like.

The Row Coco Leather Ankle Boots, $1,190, available here: The more I clicked through street-style galleries, the clearer my need for a chic, versatile pair of black boots became. I’ve tended to gravitate more towards chunky-heeled boots, but now I’m after something more elevated and ladylike to wear with everything from skirts to trousers to jeans.
