And just like that, New York Fashion Week has arrived. The Fall 2025 shows are officially kicking off in the U.S. fashion capital, and we’re already on the lookout for the standout street style trends. Since last season, brands have put out plenty of new, exciting launches and buzzy, trending pieces we’re certain will have a major presence on the streets of Manhattan throughout the week.
From of-the-moment handbags, to the coolest sneaker collaborations of the year, there are plenty of items we’re looking forward to seeing styled by the fashion crowd. Whether you’re looking for outfit inspiration or simply curious about what’s “in,” check out our running list of the “It” items we’re betting will take over NYFW this season, below.
Khaite Cate Bag

With Khaite on the NYFW calendar, we’ll inevitably be seeing plenty of front-row stars donning the highly sought-after Cate bag — especially considering that it was a standout part of the brand’s previous Fall collection. We expect to see the structured silhouette and its “kiss-lock” clasp on the arms of New York’s chicest.

Since Coach’s jumbo shoulder bag first debuted, it’s been trending online nonstop. The style quickly sold out at launch, relegating many eager shoppers to the New York-based brand’s waitlist. Now that re-stocks have come through, the minimalist-yet-schlepping-friendly bag has become more widely available, and the style was recently ranked number one on Lyst’s Hottest Fashion Products list of Q4 2024. It’s a safe bet that there will be plenty of Brooklyns on display this season.
Skinny Jeans

You may love it, or you may really (really!) hate it. But the fact of the matter is that skinny jeans are back. Call it the Alix Earle effect or the trickle-down impact of Celine’s Winter 2023 collection, but fashion folks are once again embracing the much-debated trend. Though Catie — a Gen Z-er on the Fashionista team — called the return “terrifying,” there are plenty of generation-spanning stars supporting the controversial denim fit.
Low-Slung Belts

Another 2000’s trend making a comeback this season is the low-hanging belt. In contrast to belts worn at the true waist for a tailored, cinching effect, this looser, low-slung style makes for a laid-back look that can either recall Avril Lavigne’s “Sk8er Boi” era or boho-chic a la Kate Moss and Sienna Miller, depending on the outfit.
Bally Loafers

Bally’s signature loafer is back on the fashion radar, thanks to the brand’s February 2024 launch of the Plume — a genderless style inspired by the brand’s original. It’s tough to go wrong with a luxurious wardrobe staple as classic as these.
Over-the-Knee Boots

Though over-the-knee boots have never fully left the mainstream fashion cycle, they’ve become considerably more popular in a way we haven’t seen since the 2010s. The trend may be in part thanks to Taylor Swift, who wore the style consistently to several Kansas City Chiefs games over the course of the year, as well as performed in them throughout her “Eras” tour.
Brown Suede Top Handle Bags

Pantone’s Color of the Year Mocha Mousse is already proving to have been an accurate prediction for the months ahead. Pair that warm, chocolatey hue with the rich texture of a beautiful suede and you’ve got yourself the perfect winter accessory.
Headscarves and Balaclavas

Headscarves and balaclavas are a chic, sometimes quirky way to accessorize — but they’re also extremely helpful when it comes to protecting your ears against the bitterly cold New York City weather. This is easily one of the most practical trends we expect to see outside the shows this February.
Oversized Leather Coats

If you’re opting to partake in the skinny jeans phenomenon, balancing out the tightly fitted style with slouchy, oversized outerwear is the way to go. With last season’s Spring 2025 collections from Saint Laurent and Prada showcasing amply cut bomber jackets, trenches and more, there are plenty of ways to interpret the trend.
Designer Sneaker Collaborations

With a slew of limited-edition designer sneaker collaborations on the market — like Miu Miu x New Balance, Wales Bonner x Adidas, Sandy Liang x Salomon and Cecilie Bahnsen x Asics, to name a few — the New York fashion crowd’s sneaker game will undoubtedly be one to watch.
